Retro Inspired Short Hairstyle
This retro-inspired hairstyle combines elements of the “bouffant” look with its high-volume crown, and the more modern side-swept bangs and neatly tucked-behind-the-ears sides. The haircut is a short stacked style, with the longest layers on the top and crown areas, and sharply tapering sides (keeping enough length for the ear-tucking).

Next Style To achieve this style, you can easily use a few rollers in the crown area (or a large barrel curling iron) to create lift, and then blow-dry the rest of the hair with a round brush to direct it and maintain a smooth appearance.
The makeup in this look is also inspired by the fashion of the fifties and sixties. It features sharply lined and shaped eyebrows and heavily accentuated eyes. The upper lashes are coated with mascara and curled, and the shading and contouring are done dramatically. The cheek color is applied to create sharp contours, and the lips are defined with precision. The overall makeup look is intentionally bold and stylized, reminiscent of the glamour girls from the fifties and sixties era.
All of these elements are designed to accentuate the retro style of this dress. The cut and design are reminiscent of classic television actresses such as Donna Reed, Barbara Billingsly, and Lucille Ball. The significant difference is that a classic TV actress would never have worn a sheer fabric bodice or the patterned piping on the sleeves, collar, and bust accent line.
