Step 1: Start with a section that goes from recession, recession right the way back to a point underneath the crown.

Step 2: The crown is then separated into a diamond with two offset diamonds on the top.

Step 3: On the top, there are the two offset diamonds and a chevron at the front.

Step 4: Start the haircut in the centre-back, taking a vertical section slightly angled in to the nape of the neck. Proceeding sections are directed onto this initial section with minimal over-direction.

Step 5: Having established several sections, cross check to insure correct over-direction.

Step 6: Then continue until you reach the back of the ear.

Step 7: Notice the increase in length towards the ear, which is a result of the over-direction.

Step 8: Repeat this process on the other side. This completes the back section.

Step 9: Move to the front hairline, taking a diagonal section longer at the top with little over-direction. Continue with these sections until there is no more hair to cut.

Step 14: Work with both of the off-set diamond sections. Taking your guide from the underneath, cut a line from short to long, maintaining length at the high point of the head.

Step 15: Next work with the back diamond, using the same sequence – working from the centre outwards and again maintaining length at the high point of the head.

Step 16: Dry the front section. Using a pointing technique, remove the internal weight. Lee’s free hand technique allows for texture and separation. Refer to video for more detail.
