Medium Length Angled Bob Haircut

27 Spectacular Angled Bob Hairstyles to Try Today

@nicolasfloreshair

Q&A with style creator, Nicolas Flores
Hairstylist @ Sally Hershberger Salon in Los Angeles, CA

How would you describe this look?

This cut is a collarbone length, slightly angled in the front with no layering. My client does have a ton of hair, so in order to achieve the look to be worn blown out smooth or air dried, we sliced out weight in the interior of the hair to reduce bulk. The color done by Sulehka Hilton (@raucouscolour) adds in dimension to make the hair look sunkissed.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This haircut fits any face shape, and the length is what you want to consider when achieving it. Some face shapes will require you to keep the length longer such as a collar bone while other face shapes look great at a shorter length. I always recommend not to over style the hair when achieving a look at home. Think less is more.

Use Bumble and Bumble invisible oil for frizz control and a UV protectant, and also use a great texture spray such as Sally Hershberger 24K Supreme Stylist to add in texture.

The Cutest Short Angled Bob

27 Spectacular Angled Bob Hairstyles to Try Today

@gorana.vio

Q&A with style creator, Gorana Terzic
Owner @ Kalon Studio in Kitchener, ON

How would you describe this look?

I took this client from a dark brown base with purple ends to this color. I used gentle bleach and did a full head of highlights and processed it for 30 minutes. We lifted her only to a level 7 warm color.

The base color is level 5K and level 5N (to cover gray) with thin slices of a brighter copper (level 7KK). The color on the ends is a demi with no ammonia, level 6K – 6KG (I like a deeper root and brighter ends).

This almost looks like it could be the client’s natural hair with some highlights.

I love that it is versatile for so many face shapes. With the asymmetry, it can be suitable for round to square face shapes. I also love the sharp angle with the soft flowing ends at the front. A fringe is also an option for clients who want to have it. In this case, my client has a soft sweeping fringe.

Any advice for someone considering it?

The cut is one of my favorite modern, trendy bobs. The other side of it is shorter. The back of this haircut (nape) had a 2-inch undercut. Not suitable for someone who has their head facing down most of the time (like a massage therapist) but it is an ideal shape for those who spend at least 10 minutes styling their hair, using a blow dryer, or flat iron to achieve this look.

I do recommend an undercut with this bob shape because it allows the weight line to be definite and with no hair pushing out from underneath, and it grows out better. This is definitely for more of a trendy, woman who isn’t afraid to go short in the nape.

The styling is quite versatile, it does require some work, such as blow drying with a smoothing lotion and heat protectant spray on the ends. Use a color-safe shampoo and conditioner to keep the color looking rich and healthy.

It can be waved out to create a shorter look (exposes the nape undercut), but it can still be angled. This can also be worn with a natural wave pattern and curls. It would work as long as you are okay to expose the undercut since the hair will shrink when curled.

Fun & Flirty Bob

27 Spectacular Angled Bob Hairstyles to Try Today

@thecolourroom

Q&A with style creator, Jessica Muñoz
Color Specialist / Owner @ The Colour Room Salon in San Antonio, TX

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This is definitely a fun and flirty bob! It’s very versatile style that is perfect for an everyday look or for a night out! I love the texture in the beach waves. They fall so soft and effortlessly.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

To recreate this look, apply a mousse such as Big & Sexy Hair Root Pump and a smoothing serum like Paul Mitchell Super Skinny before blow drying. This will internally lock in your style, create volume, add heat protection, and eliminate any frizz. Once fully dry, we sprayed Bed Head Masterpiece Hairspray and combed through.

Then, starting from the bottom and working toward the top of the head, section the hair horizontally and curl one-inch vertical sections with a 1 1/4-inch curling iron. When you curl, make sure to leave the tail end out. This is the secret to that beachy wave! Once we curl the entire head, spray a light mist of hairspray all over and allow to dry and cool for 30 seconds. Comb the hair out with your fingers and you’re all set!

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

This type of bob looks very flattering on any face shape and with any hair texture. It fits any lifestyle because it’s easy to style straight or wavy. For thick hair, make sure you find a good hairdresser that is comfortable with texturizing. This type of cut will need to be thinned out and texturized in order for it to lay and style right.

Emerald Angled Bob

@karinnamagic

Q&A with style creator, Karinna Barley
REDKEN Specialist @ Just B Hair Salon in Duluth, GA

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This is an emerald angled bob haircut. My favorite thing about the look is the contrast. Normally, green hair tends to be something people try to avoid, but the emerald tones blend beautifully with her naturally dark base.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

I always recommend color-safe shampoos, conditioners and styling products for all of my vivids. I prefer Pureology’s line of products because of their all natural ingredients and anti-fade complex.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I recommend this look for clients looking to express themselves and be comfortable in their skin. Fashion colors normally require a moderate level of maintenance, so I require my clients to continue their hair care at home with Olaplex or pH bonder and to come in for a refresh every six to eight weeks.

An Edgy Take on a Classic Bob

@hair_by_marlo

Q&A with style creator, Marlo Svegelius
Master Stylist @ Pure Form Salon in Calgary, Canada

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This is an edgy version of a classic look. You can never go wrong with a classic bob, but let’s add some texture and refine the shape to create interest. My favorite thing about this cut is that anyone can have it. It suits everyone with just a little tweaking!

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

I always recommend a root lifting spray or foam, as well as a smoothing cream for the ends. Of course everyone’s hair is different, so ultimately it depends on the client’s hair type.

This look can be created many ways on many different types of hair. You definitely a heat protector to save the hair from any hot tools used, as well as a soft paddle brush for the initial blow dry and a round brush or flat iron to finish if needed.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

This haircut can be for anyone! All ages and lifestyles love this cut because if its versatility. It can be worn in many different ways, (wavy, curly or straight) and even has the ability to put back (at least partially). Any face shape can wear this cut, you just need to adjust the angle and weight of the hair. It can hide problem spots or define facial features.

It is an easy cut to take care of for 99% of people. With that being said, someone with coarse, frizzy hair might have to spend a little more time with it. It is a short cut, so no more than 15 minutes should be needed to polish this look. It is one of my favorite looks to do!

This cut works great for any hair type, texture and density. It can really soften a strong jawline. This look is a great on-the-go style, but can easily be dressed up with some loose curls.

@goshglasgow

Q&A with style creator, Sarah Melvin
Salon Owner / Stylist @ Gosh! Hair Design in Glasgow, UK

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

I would describe this look as a beautiful and sleek angled bob haircut that never goes out of fashion. My favorite thing about this style is the sharp lines. It’s the perfect balance of short and voluminous at the back, but keeps the appearance of length around the face.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

For this look I used Osis+ Salt Spray by Schwarzkopf to add some volume when blow drying as it’s not too heavy on fine hair. To finish the look, I used Oil Mist for fine hair by Schwarzkopf to add extra shine and keep it sleek.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I recommend this style to anyone no matter the hair texture or age. It can be adapted to each and every client. It is a timeless look that can be styled sleek or textured.

@vtomb

Q&A with style creator, Valeria Tomb

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

I would describe this as a medium-length angled bob. My favorite thing about this is the color and haircut. It’s a low maintenance hairstyle that is full of modern style.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

Use a serum to keep ends smooth and add high shine,as well as a root boost for volume. My favorite serum is Loma Fortifying Tonic. It helps repair the hair while adding protection and shine. The trick to making hair look healthy is shine!

My favorite volume spray is the Kenra Root Lifting Spray. It adds a lot of volume without making the hair feel sticky. I would also use a medium-sized round brush during the blow dry to add max volume, and a flat iron to smooth the ends straight.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I recommend this classic cut, color and style to any client looking for a youthful look. It’s perfect for someone that is also looking for a modern, high fashion style. A bob is always a good idea for a short hairstyle!

Power Bob

@katieminalga.hair

Q&A with style creator, Katie Minalga
Stylist and Goldwell Educator @ Theory Hair Salon in Bozeman, MT

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

I describe this look as the new classic. It is a modern take on a a-line cut with blunt lines and internal layering to create a sleek shape. The color has root shading and hand painted tones to have a seamless blend in color.

My favorite thing about it is the flow of the color into the shape of the cut and how it makes my client look strong and powerful.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

To recreate this look, I recommend Goldwell hair color and Goldwell Duel Senses shampoo and conditioner to maintain the tone.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

Because this length is universally flattering and the color is low maintenance, I would recommend this look to a wide range of clients. You could customize this look for each client using different degrees of layering depending on hair type, and changing the color to a more natural shade if desired.

Nicely Stacked Angled Bob with Blonde Highlights

27 Spectacular Angled Bob Hairstyles to Try Today

@rachelastylist

Q&A with style creator, Rachel Mann
Stylist @ Salon U Midtown in Birmingham, AL

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This bob has a low graduation (or stack) in the back and a point-cut perimeter to create a soft edge. My favorite part about this look is how the highlights enhance the shape of the haircut.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

My favorite product line is Bumble and bumble and I always recommend a variety of their products to my guests. For this look, I’d start with ColorMinded shampoo and conditioner to keep the color looking its best between salon visits. After towel drying, apply Prep from root to end as a primer, then apply Thickening Hairspray the same way. This will add hold so you get the most out of your blow dry.

Finally add a quarter to half dollar amount of Straight Blowdry from mid-length to ends. This will help get a smoother, frizz-free look. For the prettiest finish, use a round brush to blow dry. Additionally, I’d recommend a trim once every five to seven weeks.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

Anytime you get a haircut it should be a custom creation to enhance or play down features. This haircut looks the best on narrow, oval and heart shaped faces, but can be adjusted to work with most shapes. Texture-wise, this cut works best on straight to slightly wavy hair.

Overall, I think this cut works great for most lifestyles. It’s polished enough for a professional setting, you can add a little sass with some flat irons curls for a girl’s night, or pull it back in a pony if you are a mom on the go or avid gym goer.

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This cut is classic and timeless. We love that it can be flattering to most face shapes and hair types.

We recommend Organic Pure Care products. All of their products are incredible, but we recommend the Volumizing Spray, Volumizing Foam and Hydrating Shiny Spray to achieve this particular look on people with the client’s hair type.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

The long lengths in the front could help balance any roundness in the face, but altogether this is a very versatile cut and can be worn by someone with naturally curly, wavy or straight hair.

Long Angled Bob with Layers

27 Spectacular Angled Bob Hairstyles to Try Today

@hairbymegananton

Q&A with style creator, Megan Anton
Hairstylist / Salon Owner @ Hair By Megan Anton LLC in Surprise, AZ

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This is an angled long bob haircut. I really love this haircut because you can wear it straight or you can style it with soft beach waves. The long layers in the haircut help create volume and add extra movement through the hair when worn curled.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

For this style, I recommend Moroccanoil Beach Wave Mousse applied to wet hair and blown into the hair. The mousse adds volume and long lasting texture throughout the hair. I used the Babyliss 1 1/4-inch curling iron to create the waves. When curling, I left the last inch of the hair out of the curling iron to create an undone beachy look.

I finished the style with Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray. This spray adds long lasting hold and texture to curls created in the hair.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

This haircut is so great because it really works on any hair type or face shape. For clients with coarse curly hair, I would recommend leaving the layers longer. For clients with fine/limp hair, the layers can be cut shorter to help create more volume and movement through the hair.

This haircut is very versatile as well. It can be styled straight, naturally curly, curled with a curling iron, or even thrown up in a half topknot.

Prime your towel dried hair with Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray and Kenra’s Thickening Glaze. Finish with a dry texture spray like Amika Un.done Texture Spray.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

This lob is such a feminine look that is very versatile and can be a successful style for the business woman in the office, or an effortless look for the beach babe! It can be cool, casual, sophisticated or runway fierce.

It’s easy to cater this look to different face shapes and hair types. For example, you could add a little fringe, leave length around the face to eliminate any round facial features…the list goes on! There are so many options in customizing which lob look is best for you.

No-Fuss Wavy Angled Bob Cut

27 Spectacular Angled Bob Hairstyles to Try Today

@hairbyangie73

Q&A with style creator, Angie Shian
Hairstylist @ Blue Waters Salon and Spa in Los Angeles, CA

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This is a versatile, lived-in, a-line bob cut. These days the term “lived-in” is used to describe a no-fuss, ready to go hairstyle, and this cut comes closest to that. My favorite thing about it is that it can be worn classically straight and smooth by an executive, or curled for a younger more playful look.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

I used Neuma Afghan treatment for shine and softness, Unite Elevate mousse for body and control, and finished the style with a texturizing spray! I always recommend a texturizing spray or paste for the lived-in look.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

This cut works best with medium to fine hair. It can be worn by faces of all shapes because of its versatility and depending on how it’s styled and worn.

Glossy Blunt Bob

27 Spectacular Angled Bob Hairstyles to Try Today

@merlorenz

Q&A with style creator, Mer Lorenzo
Stylist @ Mad One Jacks Salon in Hoboken, NJ

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This look is timeless, classic, sleek, glossy, edgy and has plenty of versatility.

My favorite thing about this cut is the blunt look because it still has movement after creating internal layers and removing weight.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

I recommend using Marula Styling Creme on damp hair. It can also work as a heat protectant before blow drying. I recommend Hot Off The Press after the blow dry and before flat ironing for more protection from heat. Use Awapuhi Styling Treatment to finish because it leaves the hair with a shiny, polished finish.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I feel this cut works best for my clients with medium to thick hair because it will remove unwanted heaviness and give sufficient movement. As far as the length, it’s most flattering for heart, round and pear-shaped faces.

The versatility allows this cut to be dressed up for a more edgy and fun girl, while the blunt sleekness of it could also work for the Wall Street businesswoman as well.

Fresh Cut Bob

27 Spectacular Angled Bob Hairstyles to Try Today

@myhairsalonportperry

Q&A with style creator, Sadie Ross
Stylist / Colorist @ My Hair Salon in Port Perry, Ontario

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

I love this look for the start of fall. After a summer of relaxed hair, it’s nice to add some structure back with a great cut, but still keep things relaxed with the beachy waves. After summer, I love cutting off sun damaged ends. A great thing is that even without a new hair color, this cut alone makes the whole look fresh again.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

I’m all about lightweight products that are pliable, meaning that if a client wishes to re-mold her hair throughout the day, she has that option without ending up a greasy mess. I used KMS Sea Salt Spray while her hair was damp to add some texture. After styling, I finished with KMS Dry Wax. These are both fun products that I use on women with long and short hairstyles to give them an effortless look.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I think there is a bit of a misconception that a lot of women can’t rock the angled bob, but this is so far from the truth. This style can really be adjusted (by a good hairstylist) to fit anyone’s face shape or hair type.

The bob can be as high maintenance as you want to make it, which makes it so fun and versatile. For those back to school mums that are frazzled in the morning but want to look like they have it together, this one is for you.

Stylish Blonde Lob

@katierussodoeshair

Q&A with style creator, Katie Russo
Master Stylist @ Katie Russo Does Hair in Metro Detroit, MI

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This look is classic and stylish. It appeals to all types of women because it is very versatile and easy to pull off.

My favorite thing about it is all the options is has. This look can be kept smooth, or waved for a stylish look. The cut looks amazing with a great hair color.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

I definitely recommend a smoothing serum added to damp hair and blow dried in. More can be used when hair is dry to polish even more. A volumizing mousse is great idea as well. A heat protectant spray is a must if you use a flat iron.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

This look is very flattering to many, however the best candidate would have to have density on the sides to pull off the angle. Thicker hair tends to be best. Other textures could also work, but will require effort to have it lay correctly. This cut also does require maintenance to keep it laying nicely.

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This is a dimensional blonde and with soft, ash-gold tones on a long angled bob. I love how sleek it turned out.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

For this look, I used Oribe Straight Away Smoothing Blowout Cream, Oribe Royal Blowout, and Oribe Super Fine Hairspray. For my formula, I did baby-fine highlights all over then toned her with Guy Tang 10SM. I also used Fanola purple shampoo to get rid of any yellow tones.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I recommend this look for someone with a natural level 5 or higher, with a light to medium skin tone. I would also recommend it for someone who loves the outdoors or the beach.

Sleek Shoulder-Length Angled Bob

27 Spectacular Angled Bob Hairstyles to Try Today

@sunny_styled

Q&A with style creator, Megan Germershausen
Stylist @ Studio 7 The Salon in Baltimore, MD

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This is a shoulder length, sleek angled bob. I love the distinct, crisp lines that create the shape! My favorite thing about an angled bob is the versatility that comes with it. It can be styled in so many ways!

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

The products recommend for this sleek bob are the Paul Mitchell Mirror Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner to help reduce frizz and create a smooth canvas for styling, the Paul Mitchell Mirror Smooth Highgloss Primer for a smooth and high shine blow dry, and the Paul Mitchell Neuro Protect for heat protection and to reduce frizz prior to smoothing with a flat iron. I also recommend Paul Mitchell Stay Strong to keep everything in place while still having a touchably soft style.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

A sleeker bob is best for someone with naturally straight hair or someone willing to put in some work to style their hair smooth to enhance that angle. However, this type of cut in general can be styled wavy, curly or textured! Who doesn’t love beach waves?!

The best thing about a cut like this is that it’s flattering for every face shape and can be customized for every guest!

Bright Angled Bob

27 Spectacular Angled Bob Hairstyles to Try Today

@hairstyle_by_m.ardeleanu

Q&A with style creator, Mandita Ardeleanu
Hairstylist @ HairstylebyM in Aarhus, Denmark

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This is an easy to wear, fresh and bright look. In general, bob haircuts are quite easy to style (most of the time), and this particular look doesn’t require too much attention since the hair is short and not very thick.

This is a practical look for women who don’t want to spend so much time in front of the mirror, and that’s one of my favorite things about it. It’s also the type of look that needs a trim at least every three months since the shape of the haircut changes every month.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

For blonde hair, I always recommend a silver shampoo. The one that I like the most is from Milk Shake because it doesn’t stain the hair, but it does remove the yellow tones or undertones and it make the hair look like it’s always freshly colored.

Blonde hair can sometimes get a rough texture over time. In order to keep the hair soft and shiny, I recommend oil and heat protection to moisturize the hair and protect it against heat.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I mostly recommend this look for women who don’t have very thick hair or for those who want to have short hair, but still not very short or too boring. The bob haircut is much easier to blow dry and give volume than if the hair is worn thin, long and flat.

I recommend it for ladies who have round, oval and round shaped faces. It is not so much for ladies with a long face since this specific haircut is longer in front, symmetrical, and a bit angled. It will actually give the feeling that the face is even longer.

Babylights surely add a plus to this look because even as the hair grows, the color will still look fresh and the roots will blend smoothly in the length. It gives a dynamic feeling and creates movement in the hair. This look is simple to maintain and fits perfectly for women who wants to have a different hairstyle that isn’t boring but easy to style.

@mkitmittohair

Q&A with style creator, Michelle

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

I would call this look at texturized, balayaged lob. All of the dimension and texture is what I love most!

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

I painted on some Schwarzkopf Blonde Me bleach and texturized the hair with scissors and razor. Lastly, I curled the hair with my favorite BioIonic curling iron and sprayed with a texture spray.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

This would be great look for fine or medium texture hair. With this style, the client should be prepared to style their hair daily. It is a super cut for women who want to try a shorter length.
