I’d like to call this a layered long bob (lob). The best thing about longer layered bobs is the versatility of its style. It’s just long enough to put it in a ponytail and just short enough to hit the top of the shoulders in the back to have that drastic angle.
Curling this style is also much easier than most bob styles because there is enough length in the back to wrap around a wand or curling iron without getting to close to your neck with the hot tool.

I would describe this layered lob as…amazing! It’s a copper red with some well-placed highlights all over the top. Her cut is a lob with long layers, a long fringe and lots of texture.
My favorite thing about this style, other than the client who wears it, is the softness it has.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
Redken and Pureology! For the color, I used Redken Cover Fusion in 7NCR and Flash Lift. She has curly hair, so to straighten it I used Redken Align 12 or Pureology Smooth Perfection in wet hair. After blow drying, spray each section with Redken Iron Shape 11 before flat ironing with the Sam Villa Sleekr. Finish off with Redken Triple Take 32 for hold and humidity control. To maintain this look, you need to see your stylist every five weeks for a retouch and a trim.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
This style would look great on just about everyone. This particular client has very thick, curly, 75% grey hair. She’s very active and needs a ponytail for the weekends. P.S. she’s a grandmother of two!

This bob with layering is fun and professional. The client wanted something edgy and that she could keep her job as a paramedic. Her hair was long before and it ended up in a ponytail most of the time. So we cut it off!
We pre-lightened the top and applied a vivid purple stain, finished with layers, stacked/tapered back, with asymmetrical sides, then styled with some beach waves.
I love everything about this bob haircut with layers – the purple, asymmetrical sides, stacked and tapered back, and still being business-friendly.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Face shape and hair texture play a role though. If you have frizzy, thick, and curly hair, you would have to spend a lot of time smoothing the hair.
As far as face shape, do a quick find on what face shape you have and the hairstyles to go best or worst. But just use your imagination and have an idea on how short is too short for you. Also, your skin tone comes into play with vivid colors but makeup can also help complement your hair.
Styling is fairly easy. There’s not much to work with, so less is more. I use a curling iron but leave the ends straight. I prefer natural hair oils instead of products but anything that makes the hair feeling like it hasn’t been washed in a couple of days works best.
You can have edgy hair in the professional workplace without being trashy. Classy, not trashy!

The best part of this cut is how easy it is to style! Vent or paddle brush the back right then left-back and forth with the blow dryer, round brush the top section in back, then rough dry the front and either finish with round brush or flat iron depending on what you’re going for. It will just take 10 minutes tops!
Another thing I’ll say about short layered bob with bangs is it’s great on a heavier set woman! I hear women say all the time, “I’m too fat/heavy for short hair” Wrong! With the length in the front, it actually elongates your face while giving you sass in the back. It’s a very versatile cut and goes great on so many different face shapes and body types.

How would you describe this look?
Classic trendy and flirty, this bob is simplistic yet sophisticated. The haircut is classic with texture and movement added into the detail work. When the client shakes her head I like to be able to see the individual hairs moving almost like in slow motion so that when the client is out in the air the hair is lively and not stiff.
I created the texture and movement doing my signature technique of cutting invisible layers using my texturizing shears at a 135-degree angle into the hair. The styling is so simple with this cut. I just put some primer, thickening lotion (for tension on the brush), and serum. I blow dried the hair with a 2 inch round brush for a sleek volume look and finished it off with a little serum and hairspray.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This look would be perfect on any hair texture and can work with any face shape, although if you are working with a round or square face I would make sure the front of the look is at least 1 inch below the jawline.

This is a layered and textured bob with babylights and a balayage color technique in caramel and with a dark base.

First, use a heat protectant on the hair. Then use a 1 1/4-inch curling iron, holding it vertically and wrapping at the top and down toward the ends, leaving them out. Be sure to curl in opposite directions and spray for the final look. I also recommend using a sulfate-free shampoo for color treated hair to maintain the color.

I use Bumble and bumble Color Minded shampoo and conditioner because it’s cleansing yet gentle. I used Bumble and bumble Thickening Spray for hold, and when dry I use Bumble and bumble Dryspun for texture. The curl was achieved with a 1 1/4-inch curling iron.
