    Simple Idea for Curly Hair

    Q&A with style creator, Andrea Durham
    in Adelaide, South Australia

    How would you describe this look?

    Mila loves wearing bows in her hair, and I find this fun and easy style a perfect way to show off some of her pretties. I also love that it keeps her hair off her face so she’s free to do all her favorite things, like drawing. It’s also a quick and messy throw together look which suits her spirited personality!

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    Mila has been very luckily blessed with naturally curly hair. But to stop the fuzz and to try and give the curls more definition, I used a shampoo and conditioner designed for dry/curly hair that gives great nourishment. I also find that running some Moroccan oil through her hair when it’s damp helps to define her curls. I prefer to allow her hair to dry naturally, but when the time isn’t on our side, we have found using a diffuser on our hairdryer is the best way to ensure no frizz!

    When creating the buns, I try not to be too meticulous about it as I find the messiness adds to the charm. A snagless tie and a bobby pin to secure is all that is required, and of course, a pretty bow to finish the look. Ready to take on whatever the day brings!

    Fabulous Fishtail Braid for Long Hair

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @jennishairdays

    Q&A with style creator, Jenni Petänen
    Hair Artist @ Jenni’s Hairdays in Helsinki, Finland

    How would you describe this look?

    This is a French fishtail. I like the way it looks here with natural highlights. It takes quite a long time to do because of the small stitches, but it is all worth it! It holds very well and looks very intricate. I first made quite a tight braid and then worked up and down the braid to loosen the sides carefully, which created this loose and natural look.

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    This look works best for long hair and looks especially good with uneven hair color. The difficulty in doing a French fishtail is to keep it tight while braiding. Spray a bit of water or use your favorite hair gel or a bit of wax to keep it from falling apart while braiding. If the hair is layered, it’s best to make it intentionally messy, because the ends stick out of the braid easily. If you have thin hair, a diagonal version of this braid would look better from the front.

    Lace Braid

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @jules4_pj

    Q&A with style creator, Julie Bennett
    Hair Braider in Portland, OR

    How would you describe this look?

    This look is a criss-cross lace braid, half-up hairstyle, with added bows for accent. This style can be easily recreated on shoulder-length to long hair. This style took me 30 minutes to complete, once I added the curls to the half-up ponytail. I think this style is perfect for all ages. The best part is how eye-catching it is with the criss-cross effect.

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    I would suggest allowing plenty of time to create the style. This style is very precise and if you hurry through, it will look sloppy.

    I always use a spray bottle with water, a rat tail comb and Herbal Essences Set Me Up Spray Gel, to control flyaways. This style looks good on thick or thin hair. This style can be made to look more formal with the added curls or bow to match a holiday dress, for example. Or, it could be more casual as just a headband braid, by ending the braid near the ear.

    You can also secure the braid at the nape of the neck, under the length of the hair, to give it a more mature look.

    Back to School Braided Ponytail

    @ways2braid

    Q&A with style creator, Abby
    Hair Braider in Virginia, USA

    How would you describe this look?

    This is a 3 strand pull through braid finished off with a little infinity braid and curly ponytail – a style that I did on myself. I think my favorite part of this hairstyle is that because it uses so many elastics, it will stay in all day for sure, making it the perfect style for any active girl with long hair!

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    I use little to no products for styling my hair (if I do, I only use a little hair gel mixed with water). And I use a rattail comb to keep all the sections of the braid smooth and neat, before adding the elastics.

    Hassle Free Braid For Toddlers

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @lilly.belle.hair

    Q&A with style creator, Crystal Everett
    Hair Artist in Burnet, TX

    How would you describe this look?

    This look is a classic with a twist, it’s the typical French braid just amped up. There are so many ways you can use this hairstyle. You can keep it tight for a cute sporty look or you can make it loose with some curls for a soft feminine touch. You can use it on all different hair types and all different clients, young and old.

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    The best advice is to use the pancake technique, meaning when you’re done or as you are braiding, pull the braids out a bit so it looks more full and thick. This just brings the braid to a whole other level.

    Medium Length Bob For Wavy Hair

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @tydyhair

    Q&A with style creator, Tyler Dymond
    Barber / Senior Stylist @ Evelyn Grace Salon in Port Perry, ON

    How would you describe this look?

    This look is a long one length bob. I didn’t layer it, however, I did texturize to have it be a little more cooperative for her day to day styling. As for the style, she has very straight hair, so for achieving the wave, I used a 1″ flat iron on 380 degrees with vertical sections then waved the hair with a flat iron curling technique. The cutest thing about this medium length bob is the effortlessness of it, whether it’s smooth, wavy, or completely curly, it’s always a very flattering hairstyle.

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    The most important thing to consider is face shape. With the hair at the length it is, the shape of the face will become much more apparent and for it to become flattering the stylist will need to establish the guest’s face shape and tailor the length as well as the length and balance of the layers.

    The ideal shape we want the haircut to create for our guest’s face is oval. Hair texture, as well as density, will play a large factor in the design process of the haircut. With very dense textures, for example, a one-length version of this haircut with no layers will create a version too thick with a tricky perimeter to work with. Products will play a big role in management as well as a visual appearance in the hairstyle.

    Asking your hairdresser for their advice on at home hair care regime is always best because they can give an individualized program for optimal hair health and appearance. The last thing also in consideration is if the guest would still like to be able to put their hair up fully. A general rule of thumb is the collarbone and under is safe, but always good to double check.

    Long Layered Hair

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @claudiashairstory

    Q&A with style creator, Claudia Castillo
    Stylist / Colorist @ Cooper and Strop Hair Parlor in Victorville, CA

    How would you describe this look?

    This is a long layered cut. My favorite thing about it how the long layers add volume and hair becomes more flexible when styling it. This makes it easier to hold curls or blend more smoothly when straightened with a flat iron.

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    It’s a good idea to always use a leave-in conditioner when you have extra long length. This will keep the hair hydrated and also prevent the hair from breaking.

    Stacked Bob Haircut

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @jessicagarnica_

    Q&A with style creator, Jessica Garnica
    Hairdresser @ TONI&GUY The Galleria in Houston, TX

    How would you describe this look?

    This look is a stacked bob. My favorite thing about it is that it’s super easy to style and creates lots of volume. For clients with fine hair, it gives the illusion of thicker hair. It is a trendy kids hairstyles for all ages! If you are looking for haircuts for little girls, bobs are always an option for cuteness and ease of styling.

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    To blow dry, I recommend using the Catwalk Bodifying Spray or Catwalk Salt Spray at the crown area to give additional volume. This look is good for most hair types, but requires some styling to get the best out of it! If your hair is curly and coarse, it will require more time to smooth out. I like to use the S Factor Molding Wax to give the hair flexible hold, shine, texture, and definition.

    Clients with oblong, oval, diamond, and heart shaped faces will look best with this cut because the length accentuates high cheekbones. A client with a round/short face may appear to have bigger cheeks!

    Little Love

    Q&A with style creator, Melanie Brown
    Hairstylist @ Salon on the Ave in Provo, UT

    How would you describe this look?

    This is a perfect style for anyone wanting to add a little “love” into their style. My favorite thing about this is how subtle, soft, and simple it is.

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    I found curled hair worked well for us to make this style last through recesses and Valentine’s parties, but straight would also be beautiful.

    Take a section of hair from each side and secure with an elastic. Then take another section of hair from each side and weave it under the previously secured pieces and under the new section, making a heart. Secure with another elastic and fan out the heart as needed for shape.

    Unicorn Ombre Hairstyle

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @amberstylist26

    Q&A with style creator, Amber Glasgow
    Vivid Color Specialist / Hairstylist @ Instyle Studio in Lafayette, IN

    How would you describe this look?

    I would describe this look as a unicorn ombre color. My favorite thing about this look is the transition from the purple to the pink. Plus, as the color fades it will still look awesome!

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    This is a high maintenance look, so if you do not want to keep up with your color every four to five weeks, I would stick to coloring just the underneath of the hair.

    There great shampoos now that have color in them (like Viral Shampoo) so when the color starts to fade, you can freshen it up at home.

    Manageable Angled Bob

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @jilly_may

    Q&A with style creator, Jill Plunkett
    Senior Hairstylist @ First Impressions in Fort Wayne, IN

    How would you describe this look?

    I would describe this look as a classic bob with a slight angle in the front to keep it stylish and trendy for a girl her age. The thing I love about this look is how easy it is for her to style. Bob haircuts are great for little girls because they are cute and easy to style.

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    We cut off about 12 inches because she has super thick hair and she had a hard time even getting shampoo out of it. A cut like this is great for a girl her age because she can blow dry and go, or air dry if she has straight or wavy hair.

    We took out most of her bulk through the interior with the razor so it lays beautifully without being too thick for the length. This is a great look for someone with thick, straight, or wavy hair. A great cut will style itself and most young girls are in need of a style they won’t have to fuss with. Clients are often scared of the razor because they think it will look harsh and choppy. If done properly, it gives a really beautiful, soft, light, and airy look with tons of movement.

    I used Aveda’s Style Prep Smoother before blow drying for a heat protection and to keep the hair smooth while blow drying. Her hair is pretty straight, so I didn’t have to use a flat iron. I finished by using Aveda’s Light Elements Smoothing Fluid for a shiny, polished finish.

    Manageable Long Layers

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @claudiashairstory

    Q&A with style creator, Claudia Castillo
    Stylist / Colorist @ Cooper and Strop Hair Parlor in Victorville, CA

    How would you describe this look?

    This is a long layered haircut. I added long layers to create shape and to make it more manageable.

    My favorite thing about haircuts like this one is how they reduce the weight of thicker hair. The curls will also hold better, and the layers add volume while still having the length to play with.

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    Anyone can pull off this look and it goes well with all face shapes. If you’re trying to change your look but want to keep your length, this is the style for you. Long layered hair looks amazing and glamorous!

    Long Layered Cut with a Soft Wavy Curl

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @cassiecurl

    Q&A with style creator, Cassandra Hernandez
    Stylist @ Dean Allyn Salon in Fort Worth, TX

    How would you describe this look?

    This look is a long layered haircut with a soft wavy curl. My favorite thing about it is how beautifully it showcases her adorable little face!

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    Since she is only three years old, obviously she is not going to be styling her own hair, but I wanted to make it easy to manage for her mom. She has a natural curl, so on most days, she can use a product like Aquage Defining Gel to scrunch the hair and let it air dry.

    On special days, she can blow dry and curl the hair like I did. I sprayed each section with Aquage Working Spray, curled with a 1 1/2-inch iron, and shook the curls loose. Kids hairstyles like this one will be pretty either way!

    Waterfall Braid Pigtails

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @melanieshairdesigns

    Q&A with style creator, Melanie Brown
    Hairstylist @ Salon on the Ave in Provo, UT

    How would you describe this look?

    These are waterfall braid pigtails. My girls (I have three!) love pigtails and I get so bored with them, so this was my way of making them more interesting. Kid win, Mom win!

    Any advice for someone considering it?

    To create this style, I sectioned the waterfall rectangle and clipped it out of the way. I then parted the remaining hair into pigtails and secured them with a clear elastic. I went back to the rectangle I sectioned off and French braided it, leaving a section out on each side to give it that waterfall braid look. I never leave the entire third section of the braid out, just a piece so that it stays in better.

    I find braided hairstyles are easier with damp hair and a little hairspray (I love Biolage Finishing Spritz). I finished the look by smoothing the pieces left out from the waterfall braid with a little water and hairspray and secured each with another clear elastic.

    Evening Pony Style

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @hairbyhenchy

    Q&A with style creator, Henchy Indig
    Hairstylist & Colorist @ Capelli Hair Salon in Brooklyn, NY

    How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

    I would describe this as an evening pony style. My favorite part is the subtle braid that gives it an extra “something”.

    What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

    I used shine cream to define the curls while creating the style, and finished it off with a strong hairspray to keep it in place.

    What type of client would you recommend this look for?

    This look can be for any type of client. I can be used for going out or just jazzing up an everyday look.

    Cute Bob With Bangs

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @claudiashairstory

    Q&A with style creator, Claudia Castillo
    Stylist / Colorist @ Cooper and Strop Hair Parlor in Victorville, CA

    How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

    This is a classic bob with bangs. It’s perfect for little girls because it’s so versatile. You can add a nice clip, make two ponytails, or just wear it down and it will be stylish and easy to manage no matter what. I added bangs for this beauty which made it even cuter.

    What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

    The only product I used and always recommend when dealing with little girls is a good leave-in conditioner. I used Enjoy Conditioning Spray to untangle her hair and make it shiny and manageable.

    What type of client would you recommend this look for?

    I recommend these type of haircuts for girls with fine hair. It makes the hair look fuller and voluminous, plus it’s a classic. You can’t go wrong with this style!

    Zig-Zag Dutch Braid

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @fairytalebraids

    Q&A with style creator, Irene Erasmus
    Owner / Stylist @ Fairytale Braids in Gauteng, South Africa

    How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

    The style consists of a single zig-zag Dutch braid that is slightly structured to give a thicker, fuller look on the head. I love the uniqueness of the style and how it complements the model from the front and back simultaneously with a braid visible on the top then flowing down the back of the neck and ending in a beautiful long braid over the shoulder.

    The style can be amended to end in a ponytail from the neck down which can be curled or braided in a different braiding technique. My favorite thing is the versatility of the style and that it can be done as a tight braid for the young at heart or active person which will last the whole day (or two or three). It can also be done as a thick romantic style for any occasion.

    What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

    A good bottle of hairspray and a few elastic bands will do the trick. I find that braiding on squeaky clean hair works best for me.

    What type of client would you recommend this look for?

    In my salon I work mostly with girls ages three and up, but I have found that braided hairstyles, in general, are becoming more popular. I hope it stays that way! Braided styles are for everyone. There are plenty of braided hairstyles for girls.

    French Braid Updo

    29 Cutest Hairstyles for Little Girls

    @rachelle_at_alante

    Q&A with style creator, Rachelle Edrozo
    Special Event & Wedding Hair Stylist @ Alante Hair Design in El Cajon, CA

    How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

    I would describe this look as the perfect updo for anyone, especially if you want your hair to stay in place all day. A French braid in the bang area helps keep the hair out of their face.

    What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

    I used Diamond Oil by Redken and Enjoy Leave-In conditioner. I use them as a cocktail to brush out my client’s hair if there are any tangles. I love to use the Diamond Oil to help eliminate frizz or flyways.

    Last, I used bobby pins on the cute messy bun and Hard Head Hairspray to keep it in place. The messy bun is great for kids.

    What type of client would you recommend this look for?

    On a hot summer day, this quick little bun updo always wins! If you have blonde hair, it definitely looks the best with lots of highlights. Even if you like to have bangs, this look can be recreated by leaving the bangs out and French braiding directly behind the bangs.
